The Vico Alto Tennis Club features five red clay outdoor courts and three synthetic surface courts recently enclosed by an innovative permanent laminated wooden structure with polyester shell.
With the aim of adapting the complex to comply with FIT (Italian Tennis Federation) regulations, the lighting system has been entirely renovated using 24 GUELL 4 floodlights with symmetrical optic installed directly on the wooden structure. Developed with PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING’s decades-long experience in the sports sector, the new facility features an average illumination of more than 500 lux on the courts, meeting the Class II FIT regulations that permits "top first category competitive activities and affiliate tournaments for series A1 national divisions". In addition to high-performance lighting, in terms of sustainability, all installed floodlights are low energy LEDs, greatly reducing both operating costs and maintenance.
The design of the new roof also considered sustainability, allowing significant energy savings both through the elimination of the fan motors that supported the previous pneumatic structure, and the elimination of the cost of two annual interventions for their assembly and dismantling. In addition, the double membrane of the polyester fabric cover eliminates any thermal bridging.
The large size of the enclosure, about 53x38 meters with a maximum height of 12.3 meters, have also improved the management of the spaces that now, in compliance with FIT requirements for holding official competitions (also thanks to the new lighting system), can accommodate the audience at courtside.
