For the sixth time the company wins the prestigious Welfare Index Award. This recognition is a testament to its ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of employees and their families. Corporate welfare as a strategic lever for business management contributes to productivity and economic success.
The Welfare Index PMI 2024 report on the state of welfare in small and medium-sized Italian businesses, now in its eighth edition, was presented in Rome. The initiative on the state of welfare in Italian companies is promoted by Generali Italia with the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and with the participation of the main Italian Confederations Confindustria, Confagricoltura, Confartigianato, Confprofessioni and Confcommercio. The maximum 5W rating assigned to 142 Welfare Champion companies (22 in 2017).
This year, around 7.000 companies participated in the Welfare Index PMI - more than tripled compared to the first edition - from all production sectors, of all sizes and from all over Italy. The maturity reached by corporate welfare is the main evidence that emerges from this year's Report: 75% of Italian small and medium-sized businesses, 3 out of 4 companies, have in fact exceeded the average level of corporate welfare.
The most mature area, with an initiative rate of 56.4%, is work-life balance. This is followed closely by health and assistance, social security and protection, protection of rights, diversity and social inclusion, all with a rate above 50%. The business initiative to support families for the culture and education of their children, with 10% of active businesses, is taking its first steps.
Corporate welfare can form the basis of a new community welfare capable of promoting social cohesion even outside companies: businesses reach 44% of Italian families. For 18% of companies, corporate welfare is a strategic lever for business management, of which more than 80% obtain the best social impact results.
