Silvia Paola Pennacchio was born in Bergamo in 1965. She studied Industrial Product Design with Achille Castiglioni in the school of architecture and graduated from Milan Polytechnic in 1991. Her passion for design drives her to confront themes of different scale. After graduation she participated in master’s in urban design courses while beginning her collaboration with architectural studios in Bergamo and Milan.
She worked for four years on the design of the cockpit and superstructures as well as the interior of recreational watercraft. This was an opportunity to get to know qualified craftsmen and learn production techniques specific to different materials.
Strongly attracted by the communicative-evocative function of places and objects, she designed exhibition and commercial spaces and worked with graphics. In the mid-1990s she began collaborating with SBP, which would later become PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING, working alongside the Technical Office in the study of the luminaire design.
She loves design challenges because she believes that the best projects respond to specific needs, both technical and aesthetic. This is why she always maintains close contact with both the craftsmen and the client. Whether industrial products, interior design, graphics or exhibits, her work is distinguished by attention to design coherence that involves every single building element of the project.
