At the fisherman's monument in Egmond aan Zee, the lighting was lit 100 years after the end of the First World War. The monument commemorates 95 fishermen who never returned from the sea during the war.
The illumination is made possible by various cultural organizations and local companies from Egmond and symbolizes that the monument "comes out of the dark", just like the world 100 years ago when the First World War ended.
On the monument are the names of 95 fishermen from Egmond who never returned from the sea because of floating mines. The monument was unveiled in 1922, four years after the end of the war, and today is illuminated with TRACCIA fittings.
