The Halden Ishall Sports Arena for Ice Hockey in the town of Halden, Norway was built in 1988. Following modernization in 2008, the arena can accommodate up to 2,200 spectators today. Recently the lighting system also required renovation, a real challenge in environments dedicated to ice sports since bad lighting can cause eyestrain for both spectators and athletes as well as affect the athletes’ performance.
LAMA+ SOFT was the ideal lighting solution for this context. Its specially designed optics ensure highly uniform lighting of the playing area with consequent attenuation of annoying reflections caused by the ice.
LAMA+ LEDs are more efficient than traditional fluorescent and metal halide light sources, allowing the installation of fewer luminaires to achieve the illumination levels required by the current regulations in for ice hockey. Considering guaranteed energy savings of up to 50% compared to traditional lighting, and the lower maintenance costs due to the long life of the LEDs, LAMA+ was also the right solution for great economic savings in the medium and long term.
The new lighting system allows both players and spectators to enjoy better game quality for the benefit of all.
